Charity Websites for Yorkshire Based Charitable Organisations
Go Web helps local charities get online and stay online
When I started out, one of my first clients was a charitable trust called The Brelms Trust. The amazing people at Brelms provide grants to local charities to help them in their support of the local community. I was so inspired by their work that I made a commitment to help Yorkshire based charities in the best way I can; by helping them with their online presence.
Charities often struggle to find the funds to build, host and maintain a website. Over the years I have provided free or discounted services to a number of local charitable organisations. Here are a few examples of how Go Web helps the local community…
Walking and Talking Cbarity Hikes, AKA #Walkingsbrilliant, is a charity that was founded by a group of former professional footballers. This charity raises money through events such as walks, charity football matches and golf days, with all proceeds going to worthy causes throughout the UK. I was approached by one of the charity founders, Mark Crossley (ex-Nottingham Forest goalkeeper), for help creating a new website for them, which I did free of charge in support of their cause. I now manage their website on an ongoing basis.
Sheffield Mencap & Gateway help local people with learning disabilities, along with their carers and parents. I was approached by Mencap’s Sheffield branch in 2017 to build a new website and to provide ongoing support for their staff, which I still do to this day. I built a new website at a heavily discounted rate which provides them with the platform they need to get their message across and advertise their services to people in need.
Birdwell Community Centre asked me to get involved with them in 2022 after a new group of local residents took over the running of the centre. I take part in some aspects of community work in and around Birdwell, so the team there knew I would be able to help with their digital presence.
The centre had been scarcely used for a number of years, so the new committee wanted to spread the word about the centre and how it could be used for local community groups, events, celebrations, electoral days and more.
I helped the centre set up a Facebook group, created a new logo and signage for around the village and in the centre, and then built a website free of charge for them. I also host and maintain the website as part of my commitment to where I live.
The Brelms Trust is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation that offers grants to a wide variety of charities operating in the Yorkshire community. Brelms approached me in 2014 to rebuild their website and make it easier for users to interact with it, namely to apply for funding. I still support Brelms to this day by updating and maintaining their website, as well as providing support for their trustees.
Educational Learning Support Hub is a charity based in Barnsley which helps young people access learning materials and resources to help them gain key skills and qualifications. ELSH is a small charity with premises on Sheffield Road, close to Barnsley town centre. The charity contacted me for help with a new website but only had a limited budget. Go Web helped ELSH by offering a large discount on the work as well as deferring payment to allow the charity to obtain funding in the form of a grant.
